Former BBC Breakfast host Bill Turnbull dies aged 66

his family said "After a challenging and committed battle against prostate cancer, Bill passed away peacefully on August 31 at his home in Suffolk surrounded by his family.

Turnbull began his broadcasting career with Radio Clyde in Scotland in 1978.

Joined BBC in 1986 as a reporter for the program

"Memorable Stories" included the Lockerbie disaster of 1988 and the Romanian Revolution of 1989.

His wife is Sarah, whom he married in March 1988 and they have three children.

He was the presenter of BBC One's long-running Songs of Praise.

In October 2021 he announced,  that he was taking a "leave of absence" from his weekend program on Classic FM for "health reasons".
